blue hill at stone barns

may has been a crazy month over here at p&p and we figured we'd go out with a bang this past weekend. while most of you were hopefully bbq and sipping cocktails we designed multiple events that had us bopping all over. we wrapped it up on a gorgeous day at blue hill at stone barns on sunday. the ceremony took place on a grassy lawn beside the herb garden that overlooks their sprawling farms. if you haven't checked out this place you must! juliet and i both have proclaimed it as our favorite place out of the city to tie the knot! they have pigs, chickens, bees, and cows! i mean what else could you ask for?!

last but not least...

we should start re-naming monday's black monday for every time we've had left over flowers from events and not enough space to keep them all. in honor of the last standing blooms this monday, we designed some fun, romantic bouquets and had jen huang photograph them. i have to say, it was amazingly refreshing to compose bouquets with no client expectations looming in your mind. plus, those peonies and scabiosa could make the crankiest happy again.
hope you all enjoy!

fresh, local, & yummy cuisine

juliet and i are both big eaters. after most of our events we treat ourselves to a delicious meal and a refreshing glass of wine. food is also such an important part of any wedding or event. there is always a huge difference in presentation and taste when you serve a fresh, locally sourced menu to your guests. we've experienced a lot over the years and michael stuart ny always seems to do it better than all of the rest!
when we saw this prep to plate shoot that they did with oh darling photography we just had to resend this post through the blog world one more time. check it out here!

had to share this giant red peony larger than juliet's head from sunday's univ of georgia 70th annual peabody awards. one of the prettiest flowers i've ever seen and we had over 100 of them in our studio!

tgim

most people celebrate when friday rolls around, but we breathe a sigh of relief come monday morning. monday is when all the weekend's events have completed and we can take a moment to rest and reboot before the upcoming weekend arrives again. this past friday we had an especially fun wedding at the foundry (best venue ever). kara & marko said their i do's under a mediteranean wreath that we suspended over the alter. candlelight filled the room and romantic, feminine flowers created a soft touch in the space. can't wait to share the photos that angelica glass snapped in a few weeks, but for now here are a couple of little iphone pics!
happy monday everyone!

frankie's spuntino

about a month ago, which feels like an eternity, we designed a very sweet, intimate wedding at frankie's in carrol gardens. it was on that first day of real spring weather and everyone was out walking around shaking off winter. frankie's is the perfect place to go on a day like this one. it's that type of place that makes you feel like you're in some cute, little, new england town. everyone who works there is so friendly, the food is fresh, and the atmosphere is always relaxing.
since there is always at least a hour wait to dine at frankie's we thought it was a good time to take advantage and sit in their garden after we set up the wedding. we bribed our friend jen huang to come snap a few photos. we used delicious nibbles and yummy wine as her prize to lure her to brooklyn. knowing how amazing the food is she jumped at the offer and we all sat in the garden courtesy of the amazing staff who saved us a table during our set up.
the flowers were simple yet refreshing housed in clean, white ceramic vases and placed on burlap runners. the bride requested a few specific flowers such as thistle, white heather, and apple blossom, which were right up our alley. we paired them with gorgeous peonies, oregano and various other types of herbs. we hung a giant herb wreath on the back wall that was so stunning i wish i could have it in my home!
if you get the chance to go to frankie's it's worth the wait!

james beard awards part 2

for the past 6 days or 144 hours we've been eating, sleeping, and breathing the james beard foundation awards. our studio was jammed packed each day with gorgeous dogwood branches, peonies, garden roses, plums, berries, and even air plants to name a few. yesterday we finished up the awards with centerpieces delivered to lincoln center for their vip dinner. the chartreuse linens were the perfect touch to each tablescape!
ps. notice the 8 glasses at each place setting! wish i could have been a guest at this dinner!
